I love terrible tattoos. I really love them. Show me a crudely inked peanut distorted by the bulging calf of a man who is old enough to know better, and I will like him at least 37% more than I should.
I love a motivational saying in wonky Gothic script, or a Chinese word that doesn’t actually mean anything at all, or a famous cartoon character that looks like it was drawn with someone’s feet. I will swoon at the sight of a patchy, misspelled band name the skin owner stopped listening to as soon as they got their first full-time job.
Celebrities with bad tattoos, photographed and publicised across the world, often bring out an army of vocal anti-ink warriors, who use words like “branded”, “mutilation” or “disgusting”.
Jennifer Lawrence has been taking heat this week for having “H2O” tattooed on her hand in deep pink, which makes it look like a scar. People have scoffed that the 2is in the wrong place, and that it is rubbish. But she knows it is rubbish, and says she got it on a whim, thinking: “Well, I’m always going to need to be hydrated.” And it made me laugh. And perhaps every time she looks at her hands and sees it, it makes her laugh too.
Cara Delevigne has “bacon” tattooed on her foot, which at least means she will never lack an idea for breakfast. Amanda Seyfried has the word “minge” on hers, because Colin Firth said it a lot when they were filming Mamma Mia!, and it amused her, which seems to be as good a reason as any to get something etched on to your skin.
If I see a person proudly displaying their bad body art, without a sleeve pulled down over it in embarrassment, then it makes me think they can laugh at themselves – that they are happy to have once been young, and an idiot. [Read more…]
So, about that architecturally beautiful pair’s pit stop here to push their latest co-movie. Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence and almost Oscar winner Bradley Cooper’s films stack together like a deck of cards: “Silver Linings Playbook,” “American Hustle,” now “Serena,” next “Joy.”
She to every reporter, “But we’re not having sex.”
Once it was Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. ThenElizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Then Angelina and Brad. Now the unsexed Jennifer and Bradley.
“Serena,” set in North Carolina, got filmed in Prague. Movie any good? Replied an insider: “Who cares? It’s Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.”
The bookends flew in for the night. Back pdq to Boston where, again, filming together. Info: “They’ll arrive together 6:30ish.” The ish was 7:20. A private bench was cleared for their molded behinds. She: “I can’t sit in this dress.”
“Prague was great,” he said. “We rode horses.”
“Real horses that went clop clop,” she said.
About stars not meshing well, I recalled Richard Burton telling me about a famous leading lady: “Kissing her was like walking into a two-car garage.”
Bradley: “We do it as perfectly as we can, and working together you learn to anticipate.”
Then, pulled by aides and hair fluffers, Jennifer said, “Sorry to disappoint you.”
They were easy and friendly, but that concluded my entire interview. I look forward to another exclusive stand-up with them.

Jennifer Lawrence says she won’t be playing shape-shifting mutant Mystique any more in the X-Men prequels.
The Oscar-winning actress says she’s giving up the role when asked by a reporter at the premiere of her new movie, Serena.
She told MTV: “It is my last one, actually.”
Lawrence started playing a younger version of Mystique in X-Men: First Class in 2011 and reprised her role in last year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Her final film as Mystique will be X-Men: Apocalypse, which is out next year.
With a number of new mutants appearing again – Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) and Storm (Alexandra Shipp) – the time could be right for Lawrence to step away from her role.
Former Skins actor Nicholas Hoult, who played the Beast in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, has also suggested he won’t be part of the franchise after Apocalypse.
He told E! Online that he wasn’t signed up for any more films although he didn’t rule out a return.
An older Mystique was played by Rebecca Romijn in 2000’s X-Men and 2003 sequel X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006.
She’s a member of Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants and frees him from his plastic jail cell.
But she’s turned into a normal human being after being shot in X-Men: The Last Stand and is abandoned by Magneto.

The Wrap has shed some lights on Jennifer’s possible project, ‘The Dive’ which is being produced by James Cameron.
“The Dive” tells the tragic true story of freedivers Francisco “Pipin” Ferraras and his wife Audrey Mestre, who competed to travel as deep as possible underwater on a single breath of air.
Lawrence will play Mestre, who died during an attempt to beat her own world record of 557.7 feet. Ferraras paid tribute to his late wife by diving to the same depth in an attempt that was filmed by Cameron.
Cameron is producing with his Lightstorm Entertainment partner Rae Sanchini as well as Barry Josephson. Dana Stevens (“Safe Haven”) wrote the most recent draft of the script, according to an individual familiar with the project.
Representatives for Jennifer Lawrence and Francis Lawrence did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
Sneaky, and taking their sweet time too! Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin never broke up, in fact, they’ve been together this whole time, multiple sources reveal in the new issue of Us Weekly.
Despite letting on that they had called it quits this past October, a source tells Us that the Hunger Games star and Coldplay singer have “been together the whole time.”
The couple, who clearly wanted to keep things on the DL, even spent time together around the holidays, dining at Kiwami sushi in Studio City, Calif., on Dec. 30 and ringing in the New Year together at a party in Los Angeles.
“Neither of them wanted to be a public couple so quickly. So they told people they were broken up while they continued to build a relationship,” another insider close to Lawrence tells Us.
