Jennifer Lawrence is Gonna Sing in “Hunger Games”

Ever since Lionsgate announced their plans to do a big budget, big screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ “Hunger Games” trilogy, fans and media alike have parsed every decision, from the casting choices (Jennifer Lawrence! Josh Hutcherson! Lenny Kravitz?) down to the font used to print the screenplay (we lean towards Helvetica). But one area that hasn’t really been touched on yet is music.

Well, until now, that is.

Add the soundtrack to the topic of discussion, because the folks at Echo Mountain Recording have posted some info a recording session there — one that involved both Lawrence and producing superstar T. Bone Burnett.

Here’s the dilly: Echo Mountain Recording is a studio located in Asheville, North Carolina, where “The Hunger Games’ is currently filming. And that made it the perfect place for Burnett to work on the music for the film, which apparently involved singing from Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) herself.

“T. Bone brought actress Jennifer Lawrence in to sing a haunting song he had written. The day they came in was the first day of shooting for the film but T. Bone had been working on the music for some time,” the post from Echo Mountain read in part. “If the music is any indication of how the movie is going to turn out, it’s going to be fantastic.”

So just what exactly were Burnett and Lawrence working on? Well, Echo Mountain isn’t saying, but given that it involved Lawrence singing “a haunting song,” we think it may have been the moving lullaby Katniss sings to Rue (Amandla Stenberg) as Rue lays dying.

Whatever they were recording, one thing is certain: it sounds like music to our ears.
